I am a beginner guitarist and own a dreadnaught size Yamaha FS730. I needed a gig bag just so I could carry the guitar to "jam" sessions with some of my friends who play. This bag is such a good deal and fits my guitar perfectly! The bag had good padding, a large zip pocket for my music sheets/booklets and a smaller pocket for my tuner and picks. There's a standard handle at the side, one near the upper back portion and also backpack style straps.

The music store that I bought my guitar from wanted $50 for their bag which has the store name on it. This one is very similar to it construction wise so I would definitely recommend this one for a $15 savings.

This gig bag is priced very reasonably. This bag is advertised at 20mm padding, which equates to a tad over 3/4 of an inch. In this price range, competing products typically have 10mm of padding, or about half as thick what this bag has.

Just a cosmetic note: although the bag is black, the trim on the storage pocket is an "almost pink" shade of burgundy, so this bag is better suited for a girl than a boy, something good to know if you plan this as a gift for a child or teen.

The bag is designed in the general shape of an acoustic guitar. It is a good size, with interior dimensions of approximately 40.5" long by 16" wide by 4" deep, easily fitting a full size dreadnought acoustic guitar. I have a Takamine S35 acoustic, which fits neatly in the bag. The bag is constructed of nylon Cordura material lined with PVC. Like the exterior, the interior is made of Cordura. As such it is water resistant - resistant, not water proof!

This is a gig bag, meaning it is a soft-shell bag. It It will provide light protection for your acoustic guitar, but please keep in mind the tops of acoustics are made of soft wood like spruce, so don't expect to be able to toss, step on, or abuse this bag while the guitar is in it. It provides nice general protection from the elements and minor bumps while transporting your instrument. If you anticipate rough handling or leave your instrument out in the open, like in backstage areas, school hallways or music rooms, etc. then consider a hard-shell case for increased protection.

Other things to know about this product: The bag is lightweight, weighing less than 4 pounds. The zippers are heavy duty, approximately 5/16" in width. The bag also has a storage area (small zippered pocket atop a large zippered pocket) which can hold some music books, strings, picks, etc.

As far as handling, the bag has a traditional side handle for carrying as well as two back-pack style straps for wearing it on your back. The straps are comfortable, being nicely padded and adjustable. It would have been fantastic had the case allowed for the use of a clip-on nylon strap to carry the bag over your shoulder, but it doesn't. That's the only design flaw, a very minor one, on this product. The bag also has rubber feet at the base.

The bag comes with a 5 year warranty. So if you are in the market for a gig bag, you cannot go wrong with the World Tour WG20D for the price!

History of the Bass Guitar

As far as instruments go, the bass guitar is one of the newest on the scene. It's a completely original component of today's bands and modern music and has not even been in existence for a century. Don't let the name "bass guitar" fool you either, the bass guitar is not actually derived from the guitar.

While electric guitars were developed from acoustic guitars, bass guitars were developed from the double bass instrument. They were originally known (and are still sometimes called) electrical bass instruments or the electric bass.

The original double bass, or simply the bass, are the massive, classical instruments that have been around for several hundred years. They are played with the instrument resting on the ground, using a bow across the strings.

The bass guitar is of course held with a strap on a musician's body and is played using one's fingers. As opposed to the back and forth of the bow on its predecessor and the strumming with a pick of an electrical guitar, the bass guitar is typically played with either plucking or slapping movements of the fingers.

It is tuned to sound the same as an original bass with of course the added benefit of being able to be amplified. In the early part of the 20th century, as music was getting louder, the bass was being drowned out and was unable to be heard. And so the quest for an electrical bass began.

Leo Fender and the Creation of the Bass Guitar

Leo Fender was an amazing man, a visionary and is one of the single most influential people in modern music history. All of these things and many more is Leo Fender. However, one thing he is not is the inventor of the bass guitar.

In 1935, it was Paul Tutmarc who developed the first incarnation of the electric bass. It was to be played horizontally and held like a guitar and could be plugged in for amplification. However, his instrument never truly caught on. It was in 1951 that the bass began earning its spot in modern music.

Leo Fender created his Fender Precision Bass, which was mass produced and skyrocketed in popularity. Gibson followed shortly there after and the bass guitar became an important component of jazz ensembles and today, nearly all musical styles and bands.

Just as with the electric guitar, Leo Fender capitalized on previous inventions, tweaked them to his own specifications and mass produced them to extreme success. While he should be remembered fondly for his contributions, let's not forget the original inventor of the electric bass, Paul Tutmarc.

Personally I am a kinda guy FretRest but I needed a cheap stand for a new guitar I have been commissioned and I found these at $ 9. This stood out because it only nine zingers while the other cost about 15 clams. Anyway, when I got instanly I put it in two licks. I was proud to Dern. I admit it was a bit thin and tipped a lot, but the trick is not to touch him and possibly Elmers glue floors (so it looks better though). I even put myold 20 pound bass on it and it stood up fine! Praise Jesus I said!!!

This stand is very stable. The guitar fits very nicely. It can be adjusted according to the size of the guitar and it has a strap that I do not use but that could be handy if you expect traffic around the guitar and somebody could bump it. I used the stand that came with my guitar but it was cheap and the guitar actually fell a couple of time because of it. I am very satisfied with my new stand. The price is reasonable also.

I've never had a case that fits a guitar that well. I have more cases, solidly built, but not seen in this price class. Six bars seems a bit exaggerated, but once I used them all to open it will not be a problem.

The packaging that the case came in was minimal, a plastic bag and a sheet of card that it barely fit. Perhaps I've been lucky, but (Knock on Wood), the case arrived without a scratch.
